18 Months Old

Anthony turned 18 months old on December 30th, 2012. How is that possible? He is just growing so much and showing us more and more of his personality and is just so much fun! This month:

  • Anthony has a found a new love for dipping sauces. This he gets from his Daddy who eats as much of a condiment as the food he's eating. Anthony loves dipping his food primarily in ketchup, but is also eating stuff with ranch and cheese dip. As is his nature, he insists on dipping food himself and won't dare let you do it for him.

  • We all like to tease around and mess with Anthony, and this month Grandpa David has started shaking his fist and will say, "You see this?" or "Show me your fist." Anthony thinks it's hilarious and has started shaking his fist back at him.

  • This boy has an obsession with brooms. He's taken notice of the times I'm cleaning or doing stuff around the house, but the broom is his absolute favorite. Every time I sweep, he wants to grab the broom and help me. It was such a big deal, remember he got one for Christmas in the previous post and it was one of his favorite presents? He loves to help me clean and sweeps with his little broom and dustpan all the time.

  • Another one of his favorite things to play with this month has been his new Little People Nativity Set. Anthony loves Fisher Price Little People anyway, so we wanted to go ahead and get him the nativity to have. He has played and played with it this month and loves it so much we couldn't bring ourselves to put it away with all the Christmas decorations.

  • We've also started teaching Anthony during our prayertimes before meals. He's been working really hard at learning how to fold his hands and close his eyes before eating.

  • Anthony hasn't been talking much at all recently. He had said just a few select words here and there, but we're back to pointing and grunting other than Mama and Daddy. He is still trying to make animal sounds and has gotten really good with dog, cow, and duck. He's also been doing monkey, lion, and bear sounds, but they sound just like the dog one.

  • Since it has been so cold this month, sometimes we make a big deal over it being cold when we run out to the car or inside and over exaggerate the "Brrrr" or "Oooosh" and will say, "It's so cold outside." Well, Anthony has started making what we call the "cold face." If you ask him if it's cold outside or if he is cold, he'll make his eyes real big and will make this face like he's freezing and will shiver. It's the funniest thing, and he does it over and over again anytime you ask him.

  • Anthony's also really started to display some OCD tendencies, which he can't help but come by honestly. I've noticed when he puts things on the shelf in the refrigerator, they have to be lined up perfectly. Also, when he's taking a bath in the tub, everything has to be in its place, and he's made sure our shampoo bottles are exactly in the right spot. If they're not, he moves them where they need to be. The other thing is Anthony's clothes hamper. Sometimes I'll drape washcloths that are still wet over the side so they can dry, and it drives him nuts. He always goes over to put them in the hamper if he sees them.

Here are the rest of the pictures from December happenings:

Playing with his new nativity set.

A rare moment when he played with his felt Christmas tree.

So tired one afternoon that he fell asleep sitting straight up on the couch.

Probably one of my favorite pictures ever!

Playing on the slide at church.

Helping Grandpa David put together a new bookcase.

He ran to find his little toy hammer so he could help.

Enjoying a warm December afternoon outside.

We met Abigayle and her mom for supper one evening.
Anthony was so excited to see his cousin!

A family picture after Anthony had his picture made with Santa.
