Long Overdue Trip to Atlanta

We tried to make it to Atlanta three or four different times between February and June and had to postpone every trip for different circumstances, usually because one of us was sick. So, we finally were able to make it down the first weekend of June to visit at NAMB and with friends since it had been almost nine months since our last visit.

In going through pictures from this trip and our previous ones, I realize that most of the photos I have are in our downtime when the three of us are together, and we do a terrible job of taking pictures while we are visiting with our friends. I can tell you it's because we are so valuing and trying to make the most of our time together that we just neglect to pull out the camera, but I'm always a little sad later when I realize we got caught up and didn't capture the time together.

We traveled down on Saturday and had lunch and visits with friends and then Saturday evening we headed to a cookout at our neighbor's house. They also invited over a couple other friends, as well as the family who is living in our house now and renting from us. It meant so much to be able to spend time with all of them and in our old neighborhood. We had such a great time hanging out in their backyard, grilling out, catching up, and letting all the kids run and play. We did manage to snap one picture of Anthony with our neighbor girls right as it was getting dark, and we were about to leave:

Swinging with Emily and Natalie.

During the weekend trips we make to Atlanta, it seems Sunday mornings are our downtime where just the three of us get to be together, and we try to do something fun as a family. This trip we decided to take Anthony to let him play at one of our favorite parks in Alpharetta called Wills Park. David and I spent a lot of time here when we first moved to Atlanta and even recently on the trails there before we moved. We always planned to take our kids here when they got big enough, so this was a perfect time and place to let Anthony play.

Doesn't this make you want to run and play?

Trying out the swings.

He wanted to drive.

It was a train!

So, he wanted to climb and sit on it.

Monkey bars!

Contemplating whether or not to try it.

He's going in!

I got claustrophobic just watching him!

Almost there...

He made it!

He loved this big tire swing!

His first enclosed slide.
I was at the bottom ready to snap his picture - he tumbled down headfirst.

Back to the little slide...

He fell down it too.

Playing with Daddy in the ship.

Watch out he's gonna get you!

These two crack me up!

Listening to Daddy's music....

...and reading a book together.

Sunday afternoon we headed over to visit with our good friends, Laura and Lee, and their little ones. We were especially excited about this visit because we were finally going to meet Baby Cora!

Anthony saying hi to Cora.

Playing drums with Phoebe - Lincoln Logs and the Lincoln Logs cans.

They were really getting into it!

Getting some love from Lee.

Anthony helped us pack up and head out on Monday morning.

Forget continental breakfast - we headed to Chick-fil-A!

This is what Daddy and Anthony do while Mommy
does a little shopping at the outlets on the way home.

Weekends in Atlanta are so exhausting!
