25 Months Old

Anthony turned 25 months old on July 30th. During this month:

• We now have a full-on talker! Anthony is saying any and everything now and can repeat anything you ask him to say. He's also beginning to put two words together at times.

• Remember how Anthony liked to read the "Star Spangled Banner" each night at bedtime? Well, we've still been reading it, but now Anthony's started singing along with us. The three of us belt out a nightly rendition of the national anthem as part of the bedtime ritual now. Anthony also loves to sing, "Row, Row, Row Your Boat." This is one of the first songs he's sung on his own.

• We transitioned Anthony over to the 2 year old class at church this month, and so far he's doing great in there! He feels so big and grown-up now that he's in there with the big kids.

• Anthony also had his first trip to the dentist this month, and I was so proud of my big boy! I went in the back with him, but he crawled up in the chair, opened his mouth, and let them look at his teeth for a good few minutes. He didn't get scared or cry at all, and I am thrilled he did so well! He was so proud of himself too for having gone to the dentist, and he even got to pick out some prizes! Unfortunately though, he already has some decay in his front teeth and is going to have to have some oral surgery done in a couple of months.

• Anthony loves learning, and we've really been working with him on his letters, numbers, and colors. He loves to have you ask him what color something is or point to a certain letter - he loves being quizzed!

• Anthony is all little boy, except for one thing - he hates to be dirty! We've been playing outside a lot here through the summer, and he can't stand to get dirt or mud anywhere on him! Plus, he wants to use a napkin during meals. If he gets food on his mouth or hands, he has to wipe it off immediately or it drives him crazy. Be warned - if you don't have a napkin close by for him, he will wipe it off on your clothes or his!
