Seven Weeks

This last week has been a little busier than the previous ones. Mainly we just spent a lot of time visiting with family, but had some other things going on too.

David's dad came over for the day the weekend before last and got to give Anthony a bottle for the first time.

Grandpa David started whistling for Anthony this last week, and he loved hearing a new sound!

We also met Collin and Meagan in Kingston a couple of days ago to go out to dinner and celebrate Collin's birthday. After dinner we went to a park on the lake...it was later in the evening and there was a breeze coming off the water so it was cool enough and was really the first time Anthony had been outside, but he loved it!

Anthony couldn't really quite figure out what to make of Uncle Collin at first.

Having a milk bottle picnic with Aunt Meagan.

We spent this past Sunday afternoon with my dad's side of the family over at my Aunt Nancy's house. A lot of them hadn't even met Anthony yet so it was really good to see them. Here are a couple of pictures with cousins:

Last Monday we had to take Anthony to the children's hospital in Chattanooga for a hip ultrasound. He was frank breech and his feet were up by his head throughout the end of my pregnancy so his pediatrician wanted to make sure there were no issues such as hip dysplasia even though he didn't think there were any from his initial physical examinations. Everything turned out fine though so we're thankful for that. Anthony was none too thrilled though with having his legs held and positioned for the pictures they needed...he fought pretty hard, so much so that he wore himself out and fell asleep by the time they were almost finished. We had thought we'd get updates that day on his weight and height, but they didn't take any measurements so we tried to do our own this last week. We measured his height at 23 inches so he's grown two inches since birth. For his weight, there's a margin of error, but he's close to 13 pounds! He'll have his two month appointment soon and we'll know the updated stats then.

This is when we measured his height...all stretched out.

Here are some other fun pictures in the life of Anthony this last week:

He's not the biggest fan of tummy time, but we're still working on it.

Anthony absolutely loves to play with this elephant when he's on his changing pad. He's just started grasping things and holding on to them...he usually does really well hanging on to Mr. Elephant.

Checking out his new black and white picture cards (or his psychiatric evaluation cards as Daddy likes to call them).

He's never been the greatest burper, but is getting much better at it. He's not so sure here though.

Anthony's graduated from bathtime in the kitchen sink to the big tub. He loves to take a bath and always has the funniest expressions when I try and take his picture.

He has loved playing on his activity mat from day one...definitely still one of his favorite things to do.

He is enthralled with Mr. Whale.

All tuckered out from playing so hard.

Resting easy with Daddy too.

The other big thing from this last week is Anthony has really started to intentionally smile for us when we talk to him and try and make him laugh. Still not quick enough to snag a picture, but there'll be plenty more opportunities to come.

David and I also took advantage of a couple of nights out last week. Even though they were both only for a couple of hours while my parents watched Anthony, it was still good for the two of us to spend some time together. One night we just grabbed some dinner, but for the other, the weather was cooler and the humidity was lower so we went to the walking track here in town. It felt so good to get out and get some fresh air and exercise, and I can't wait until the weather cools down, hopefully here soon, so we can go all the time and push Anthony in his stroller. The picture below is a little shaded since the sun was about to set, but you can see how nice it is. I love the view of the mountain!

One more fun thing...last week the lab research chemists at David's work decided to make some homemade ice cream for their co-workers using liquid nitrogen. These are some pictures of him getting the liquid nitrogen and making the ice cream. Who says chemistry can't be fun?

1. Griffin hates tummy time too.
2. We have those "psych" cards too! From some formula company? Griffin loves staring at black and white things like that, so we put one in his crib!
